
Biographical Sketch for Rev. Todd C. Davidson, Pastor
Rev. Todd C. Davidson is
the son of Calvert and Doris Davidson of Norfolk, Virginia, and the youngest of
three children. He is excitedly married to Mrs. Laia (Lay-yuh) Elizabeth and the
father of two beautiful daughters Cana and Reaiah (Ray-a). He holds a Bachelor
of Arts Degree, in Government and Elementary Education, from the College of
William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia and a Master of Divinity Degree
(Magna Cum Laude Graduate) from The Samuel Dewitt Proctor School of Theology at
Virginia Union University. His wife, Laia, is also a graduate of the College of
William and Mary, with a Bachelor of Science Degree with concentrations in
Kinesiology and Elementary Education. Rev. Davidson is scheduled to complete his
doctoral degree in Educational Policy, Planning, and Leadership in May 2008, at
the college of William and Mary..
Rev. Todd C. Davidson was
licensed to preach on June 1, 1997, and ordained in May 1998 under the tutelage
of the late Dr. I. Joseph Williams, Pastor of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church
in Norfolk, Virginia. He has served as the Assistant to the Pastor and Youth and
Christian Education Director at Greater Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Chesapeake,
Va., where his beloved Pastor and mentor is the Rev. Dr. Donald F. Taylor, Sr.
Prior to assuming the pastorate of Piney Grove Baptist Church in January, 2004,
Rev. Davidson was employed with the Norfolk Public School System as a Dean of
Students at James Blair Middle School.
In May 2006, Rev.
Davidson was elected by the citizens of Virginia Beach, Virginia and the
providence of God, to the School Board of Virginia Beach City Public Schools.
His community service ventures include serving on the following boards and
committees: The Board of Directors for the Seton Youth Shelters Inc., the
Long-Range Facilities Planning Committee for VBCPS, the Diversity Task Force for
VBCPS, the National African American School Board Member Association, the
National Association for the Supervision of Curriculum and Development (ASCD),
the National and Virginia School Boards Association, 200 Plus Men Inc., and the
Virginia Beach Interdenominational Ministers' Conference. He is an active member
of the NAACP and Kappa Delta Pi, Inc. (a national honor society for professional
educators). He is also an Adjunct Professor of Elementary/Early Childhood
Education at Norfolk State University. Rev. Todd C. Davidson enjoys spending
time with his family, jogging, and playing basketball, and serving God's people.
His favorite Scripture is Philippians 4:13, which states, “For I can do all
things through CHRIST who strengthens me!”
